Tithing—

God's Plan for Financing The Church and Its Outreaches

tithing is a powerful way to plug in to what God is doing in theworld. The tithe provides the funds to support the outreaches of the church—getting people saved,building up the Body of Christ, ministering to the poor, supporting missions, perhaps sponsoring the Gospel on social media.

For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shallbe saved. How then shall they call on him in whom theyhave not believed? and how shall they believe in him ofwhom they have not heard? and how shall they hearwithout a preacher? And how shall they preach, exceptthey be sent? . . .—Romans 10:13-45

And how can they be sent without money? And how can they get the money except it be given them inGod's appointed way, by the tithes "who have heard the joyful sound?"

Despite our tendency to shy away from the topic, nearly one quarter of Jesus’ teaching was about money. The truth is that money is morally neutral and in itself bears no problem, but what we do with our money reveals something much deeper — what’s in our hearts (Matthew 6:21).

God is the creator and owner of everything, so we are merely stewards of His creation(1 Chronicles 29:14).

ANC encourages members and regular attenders to follow the Biblical model of giving cheerfully (2 Corinthians 9:7) and sacrificially (Psalm 4:5). Contributing financially to the work of the church out of our “firstfruits” is both a renunciation of greed as an idol and an acknowledgement that all we have been given is given to us by God and is to be used for his purposes (Matthew 25:14-30).

It is an expression of worship in response to all that God has done in our midst.
