7 Ways to Draw Closer To God
James 4:8; Come near to God and he will come near to you...
God has promised to draw closer to us when we draw closer to Him.
God must be sought. His presence must be sought.
We seek after the things we love.
Have you ever felt like you’re just going through the motions?
You go to church, read your bible, and try your best to live a life that is pleasing to God, but no matter what you do, He still feels far away from you?

Here are 7 Ways to Draw Closer To God:
1. Pray
Though this may seem obvious, pray.
What does your prayer life mean to you as an individual?
God want you to develop a prayer life that means something to you.
Just as You talk to your family every time.
Make sure the words come from your heart and are not just empty words.
God wants you to have a conversation with Him, not to cite empty words to Him.
Think of him as your friend, your father.

2. Repent
You didn't do what God ask you to do.
Sometimes we can boldly talk about what God asked us to do, but the question is did you obey Him?
It's not about hearing the voice of God alone, but obeying the voice of God.
Confess your sins to Him and ask for forgiveness.
Pray for help with all the things you are struggling with spiritually.
Once you have prayed about it and have been forgiven, it is important to forgive yourself.

5. Read the Bible
Reading your Bible every day is essential in growing closer to God.
Before you read, ask God to open up your heart, soul, and mind to whatever He wants to show you.
The Bible must be read patiently, slowly, meditately, etc
Read one or two chapters a day, (maybe one in the morning and one in the evening, Pray as you read, and talk to God about what those verses mean. This is an EXCELLENT way to grow closer to God.
John 15:7, which says, “If ye abide in me [Jesus], and MY WORDS abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.”
Many of God’s promises are conditional.
If you want answers to your prayers, follow the instructions that have been given to you: If you abide in Jesus, and His Words abide in you, you shall ask what you will and it shall be done unto you.
How can you pray correctly if the word does not abide in you?
6. Pay attention in church
You’ll learn a lot more and feel more in tune with God.
Take notes in church. This helps tremendously and later on, you can review them and figure out how to apply principles to your own life.
7. Participate in church
Get active. It’s not enough to just go to church.
Join a ministry: Choir, Usher, Homeless Ministry, Outreach Ministries etc.
Look at it like this, Your church is your team and you’re playing against Satan. Are you on the team or on the bench?
